Back to school amidst Covid-19

Back to school season can typically cause some stress among students and parents, but this pandemic adds a whole other layer.

As many schools are back in session and trying various methods of teaching, from remote teaching or in-person to even a hybrid method, we were curious to uncover the sentiments around the situation. We find that in general, students and their guardians are more comfortable with their schools going remote. The hybrid method seems to be the least popular.

Though many feel safer learning online, parents and guardians in particular worry about children’s social development and engagement levels with the materials. Some state that they believe students will fall behind (51% support), and others note that students will begin to rely more on technology than speaking with others (57% support).

In the next coming weeks, we will be able to see what effects school openings will have on the number of Covid-19 cases. In addition, it will be fascinating to track what effect online learning has on students in the future.
